It's been a while since I've posted some thoughts here, so here we go . . .

First, the summer has been great and swift. We had the pleasure of RV'ing it out to Portland Oregon to visit my oldest daughter Melissa. Melissa, if you are reading this, it was great seeing you. We love you! Second, the kids are getting ready for school, time which will make the last few precious weeks of summer fly by even more quickly. Jared, Josh, and Megan, Dad and Mom love you and are proud of you. Enjoy the last few "lazy" (ha!) days of summer!
If you've been following this website blog for any time at all, you know Pastor Funk and I have been "retooling" things around here for a while. It has been fun, the creative collaboration, but also difficult, with my vacation, his vacation, and just life in general. Please pray that we would be able to continue our work, so, come Fall (a few weeks away - yowee!), we would be able to communicate our plan, Lord-willing, of how we will go about making disciples of Jesus here. Yeah, I know that sounds so abstract and "churchy", but however it is said, this is the marching orders Jesus left us (Matt.28:19). We plan to obey! So, with that in mind, I encourage you to join us for church this Sunday, Aug.22nd. In our worship, I hope to share with the congregation, the "Heart, Hands, and Head" of Discipleship here at First Free. By the way, if you read this piece, and come as a result of it, would you please come and introduce yourself to me this Sunday? I'm always interested to see who is reading the blog. Thanks! If I don't see you this Sunday, please feel free to visit anytime. We'd love to meet you!
